ABUJA-THE House of Representatives Committee on Interior in its report laid on Tuesday, has recommended for the immediate dismissal of the prisons officer, SIP Idaa Odeh that assaulted Hon Juan Nrakpor, last
Thursday. The committee also recommended that Corporal Esther Hassan, ASP Sunday Akoh of the Nigeria Police Force and Adeboye I.0 of Department of State Security, DSS should be disciplined and redeployed. In the report, it was also suggested that the Legislative Houses (Powers and Privileges) Act should be amended as a matter of urgency to the effect that only the president, VP and CJN or a visiting president can come into NASS with moderate convoy and penalties should be provided for offenders. For refusing to show up at the public hearing held last Monday, the report recommended that DCG Umar Shehu Kangiwa should be arrested and tried for violating Section 11 of Legislative Houses (Powers and Privileges) Act by the Attorney General of the Federation. Meanwhile, in a related development, a group under the aegis of Anioma Youth Council stormed the National Assembly, today, demanding for the sack of prisons boss, Mr Peter Ekpendu by the Federal Government. In a statement signed by its president, Raymond Chukwudiben Obusin, the group said, “we call on NASS to protect one of its as the assault on Hon Nrakpor is also an assault on NASS generally”.
